Ivan graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague in 1997. He successfully defended his rigorosum thesis in 2003 and his dissertation on commercial law in 2008. Ivan has been an independent attorney-at-law since 2001 and has co-operated with leading Czech and international law firms. He specialises in the area of commercial law. He has authored or co-authored over thirty articles in scholarly journals and three books. From 2005 to 2012, he taught as a lecturer at the University of Economics and Management in Prague (VSEM). He is fluent in German and English.
